There are alot of definitions including " the condition of being oneself or itself, and not another" So one ponders is it possible to be yourself, your own person and take nothing from others...are we all simply copying someone Else's identity to various respects?
There are many masks we wear to conceal our true identity, smiles, false hope, bravery, even insanity in some cases. All for fear that someday someone we don't trust may find our true identity and use it to harm us.
But like the fairytale of Puss N Boots who pretended to be a man for so long he transcended the mask and became exactly what he pretended to be, if we spend so much time wearing the mask we lose our true identity and become the part we play.
So in a sense with every Identity we hide behind we lose another.
Till all we are is a mannequin propping up the mask.
